I don't know if attempting a 12-Hour Party on the way to a 24-Hour Holiday Party counts in this particular realm, but I have always loved to read about such strivings and adventures. I appreciate how you're giving yourself space to see what this goal will be like in the actual living of it and still making room for having the goal, if you see what I mean.
I love your way of thinking about challenging yourself while knowing that you may have to shift your goals if the body insists. Your energy and spirit will bring the wind to your sails!
I know you can do this. It seems to me this gives you the opportunity to focus on the moment-by-moment achievements as you train. The joy of doing not tied to winning or competition. The fact you are doing this versus settling is a victory in itself to me.
"I am aware that while I underwent essentially the same knee surgery as Vonn, I am a couple of decades younger and several orders of magnitude more human than she is. Still. What we learn from Vonn’s training and recovery even before she proved herself ready to astonish the world with her skiing prowess is that it is possible to improve. "
Go for it! You're speaking right to my heart. I'm that hard-headed almost-60 ballet dancer / mountain tracker / distance swimmer / runner who gets an existential thrill from pushing past pain and yes, feeling the miracle of healing, growing and getting stronger.
And if you're up for some hair-raising inspiration, check out this YouTube channel by a guy I know who does 100-mile ultra trecks for fun. https://www.youtube.com/@rafaelhidalgo
I didn’t know you were a mountain tracker (I don’t even know what that is)! But, yes, I am familiar with—and committed to—the existential thrills you’re talking about!

I do see! I like reading different statements of what I myself have thrown out there, since it helps keep the mission in the foreground.

Thank you, Susan! I think the plan within the plan is, simply put: Don't Be an Idiot.

Oh, I love this. Thank you, Greg! I’ll keep this in mind as I go.
Re-read your paragraph again:

I think you used a wrong word ...
Good lord, I wonder what sort of magical thinking led me to completely not catch that despite several rereadings!
I am a great proof reader (if you ever need help)
