Henriette, have a fabulous time in England, and enjoy the cake! Hubby had a knee replacement years ago and it changed his life. Just look forward to the days of having a non-crunchy knee :)
Sounds like fun. As for the partial knee replacement, a meniscus repair and continued marathoning and shorter distance running got me there in 2018. The recovery hurts like hell but I am still able to run (at greatly reduced distances). Do your PT post op and you will be fine! Have a great time in Lake country.
First, that race sounds awesome. It's on my bucket list to get to the Lake District, though I will probably not be doing a race there.
Second, wow, ski ballet. I had no idea.
Third, I also have a clunky knee that is probably headed toward replacement. Our knees could click and clack and pop together. I feel sometimes like my knee is talking to me and what it's saying is mostly, "Ow. Please stop doing that."
Since the noises are new as of yesterday, I'm mostly listening with bemusement. And a bit of indignation. With two of us noisy knees, all we need is a third to make up the cereal box trio!
Good luck, Henri! You are strong and tough (sounds like paper towels LOL) and you'll be with friends and a spouse who will save you from yourself if necessary. I just looked at the run's website--looks so cool!! Above all, enjoy yourself! And the cake.
You can do it at a 2.5 mph pace! Approach it as "a hike with runnable spots" and take it easy. I find that with knee pain, for the downhills, it helps to do a lower-impact, big-stepping glide (I call it "the granny glide"!) rather than run the downhills, and it allows you to move nearly as fast. Take heart in the adage for ultras, "the thing you think will be the problem usually turns out not to be—it's something else." In other words, your knee may behave and stay quiet, but don't be surprised if some other issue flares up. Enjoy the beautiful Lake District!
Best of luck to you. Doesn’t matter how fast just keep moving sister
Good luck! If anyone can pull this off, it’s you ☺️

I actually am excited about it. And it's a partial, so recovery will be a fairly brisk twelve weeks before I'm on skis again :-)

That's the plan!

Thank you, Sarah! This is what I will try to remember!
Might you say... you'll have your cake and eat it, too? Great post! Please come back in one piece.
touché!
I will come back in one slightly smaller piece than when I left, with probably slightly less bone in my left leg. oy.
