The hardest thing I have ever done is Ride the Rockies in 1993, my first of many week long bike tours. It was seven days of biking (no day off, as is customary), with many mountain passes, and a century day from Steamboat to Vail.
That sounds truly epic. And so challenging in that you are on a journey and kind of have to keep going (though of course you could leave the route in case of injury). That a whole different kind of mental perseverance over a long period.
Took a break in my day to read and enjoy your recounting of your ski adventures then and now.
It reminds me of the days my father took to a small ski area in Franklin Ma. and taught me my first turns on wooden skis ending up off the trail and in the woods !
Oh the terror I felt then but so happy he took the time to immerse me in the sport !
We were lucky to get started then, I think! It's sad to know that winter is getting shorter and drier every year. Skiing has a difficult future, for sure. (And now I have to find that old area in Franklin and see if it's skiable!)

Sounds wonderful!! Nothing like being out in the snow with your heart pumping.
Yup! I know you know this from winter hiking. Which is ski touring without the skis :-)

And that is quite an achievement. A nice reward for your efforts :-)
